It’s that time of year once more. The time all PC gamers should be saving their wallets for throughout the year (but never do). The Summer Sale on Steam began officially today and will continue through 1pm Eastern on June 30th.

Below is a list of the first games on offer as Daily Deals:

As per usual, there will also be a collection of Flash Games that will change every eight hours. And new this year, instead of voting on individual games, Steam users will be offered two Community Choice packages of games to choose between. Every three votes on the Community Choice sale will earn users a Summer Adventure trading card.

Specific to this year’s sale is the Summer Adventure.

steamsummeradventure

The Summer Adventure is open to all Steam users and by joining the adventure, you’ll be placed on a randomly assigned team (designated by colors: pink, green, purple, blue and red). Users that want to participate towards bonuses during the Summer Adventure will want to work on crafting this year’s Summer Adventure badge, earned by collecting all ten of the sale’s trading cards (earned by voting, purchasing $10 worth of games, or by trading and/or purchasing them through the market).

Once crafted, badges also come with 1 in-game item, 1 emoticon (for use in Steam chat), 1 profile background, a chance at a Team Token and 10 points. All the in-game items and the related games can be found in a list on the Summer Adventure page. Team Tokens add or subtract points from a team, or allow users to switch to a different colored team. Points count towards a team’s daily total and each day the team with the most points wins. 30 members of the team that contributed to a that day’s total of points will win 3 games off their wish list. (It’s worth it to keep that wish list updated!)

Make sure to check the sale every day for newly discounted games, game and developer bundles, and to check out which team is in the lead (c’mon Purple!)  More details about the Summer adventure are available on the FAQ.
